What is STS Track?
STS Track is our official live tracking app, created and developed for Apple iPhone. Using your phone’s GPS, it shares your position during the race so that supporters can watch your progress on the live map from anywhere.
The app is optional and for participants only – you choose whether to use it, and your race results and chip timing are completely unaffected either way.
Install the iOS app
1. Get the app
Open the App Store on your iPhone, search for STS Track and tap Get. There’s nothing else to download or set up.
2. Allow location access
When prompted, allow STS Track to use your location. Tracking can’t work without it, as the app uses your phone’s GPS to share your position.
3. Enter your details
Open the app and enter the API Key for your event and your race number, then start tracking before the race begins.
That’s it – you’re ready to go.
Good to know
Location permission
If you skipped the prompt or want to check it later, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → STS Track and make sure location access is allowed.
Battery life
GPS tracking uses more battery than usual. Start the race with a well-charged phone, and carry a small power bank if you’re running a long event.
Mobile signal
Your position is sent over mobile data, so on remote parts of a course the live map may update with a short delay. It will catch up once you have signal again.
Is it free?
Live tracking is provided free as part of our race timing services at events we time.
