Free backyard ultra timing and live results
Backyard ultras are one of the fastest growing formats in running: everyone runs the same lap every hour, on the hour, and the last runner standing wins. They are also awkward to time, because the result is not a finish time at all. It is how many yards each runner completed.
Our free timing app now handles them. There is no gun time to work out and no lap sheets to count by hand.
How it works
- One phone at the corral. Tap each runner's number as they come back in. A second phone on the same point makes a good backup, and double taps within two minutes are ignored.
- Every tap before the next yard counts one yard. The first yard with no tap puts a runner out.
- Ranked by yards, with each runner's distance and total time on course (a yard is 6.706 km).
Live results for everyone
Runners, family and friends follow on the public results page, which updates as the taps come in. Each runner shows Still in or Out, and the last runner standing is named as the Winner. A printable yard-by-yard report gives the organiser every runner's lap times.
